Don’t Let The Big Apple Grow Rotten STD Testing in New York

Living in New York affords us the opportunity for lots of fun stuff. Midday strolls through Central Park with your significant other, romantic dining in outdoor cafes, or a quickie in a parking garage. Either way, STD testing may eventually be necessary. It is common for the so-called player to worry about contracting an STD, that’s a given. If you assume a player (or “playa”) would be at the top of the list when speaking of such things, you would be absolutely correct. Unfortunately, that doesn’t let the rest of us off the hook! Individuals in monogamous relationships tend to neglect such caution with a silly, “it couldn’t happen to me” attitude. It could. And it often does.

In New York, as in the rest of the country STD testing is of paramount importance when wanting to remain healthy. The figures do not lie. Simply stated there are over 25 different sexually transmitted diseases and 19,000,000 Americans will catch one of them this year. In fact, STDs are the most common infectious disease in the United States.

Anyone in a sexual relationship should be aware of the STDs that they may contract. Whether you are playing the field, or cuddling up on the sofa at home with that one special person, the following list includes just some of the STDs (and their common symptoms) that you should be on the lookout for.

Chlamydia
Chlamydia sufferers may show no symptoms at all. In those that do, symptoms include discharge from the penis or vagina and inflammation of the eyes.

Genital Herpes
The presence of blisters and sores on the genitals. Discharge from the penis or vagina. Swelling and itching in the infected areas.

Gonorrhea
A bloody or yellowish discharge. Painful burning during urination.
Genital Warts
Small painless bumps on or near the genitals.

HIV/AIDS
Low fever, night sweats, fatigue, extreme weight loss, red and purplish splotches on the skin.

Hepatitis B
Jaundice (a yellowing of the skin and eyes), fever, joint and muscle pain, headaches and fatigue.
Syphilis
Sores, sore throat, skin rash, and severe fatigue.

Perusing a list such as this is off-putting to say the least—but this is reality. We all understand that with different behaviors there comes varying levels of responsibility. Sexual behavior includes the highest of these levels. The last thing we want is to infect someone we love with a sexually transmitted disease. That is why, whether in New York or Timbuktu, we should all receive STD testing.

For those not in Timbuktu contemplate heading over to the STD Clinic New York. This certified clinic is just blocks from Grand Central Station, making it accessible for anyone in Manhattan or the surrounding boroughs by subway. The staff is discreet and professional and up-to-date on testing procedures and treatment.

To find out more info just log onto STD Testing NYC or call 1-212-696-5900 to speak to a real live human being. It may be time to rest assured that you are as healthy as your significant other. Or vice versa.
